So far, Solters said he’s received responses supporting his belief that Considine took old quotes out of context and didn’t speak to everyone he says he did. Solters said Phyllis Diller wrote that she had never spoken to Considine but that Considine used excerpts from one of her comedy routines.
Solters said he received word that Walter Matthau--long rumored to be on the outs with Streisand (since “Hello, Dolly!â€)--said the references to him “were inaccurate, incorrect and out of context.â€
Via Solters, Streisand made the following statement: “I cannot control what anyone says, writes or invents about me. I can only control my own work and hopefully that will speak for itself.â€
