Anti-Billboard Stand
Sam Hall Kaplan’s very well-written article (Nov. 24) observing West Hollywood’s urban design issues cited several commendable actions and stands taken by the new city.
May we add another, which we consider most significant. That is the city’s resolution to regulate business signs and stop the proliferation of billboards, which are the major contributors to urban visual pollution.
West Hollywood joins Santa Monica (which adopted a no-billboard ordinance last June), Beverly Hills (which has banned billboards since its incorporation) and more than 140 other cities in California in saying no to this most deplorable form of graffiti.
