Four children and one man died in their mountain home in Pollock Pines, 60 miles east of Sacramento, apparently after being asphyxiated by carbon dioxide or propane gas, authorities said. El Dorado County sheriffs deputies were waiting for the pathologist’s report to confirm the cause of death. The victims were identified as Patrick Martin Beck, 25; his son, Tandy William Beck, 5; his daughter, Kellie Jean Beck, 2 1/2; Christopher David Bospflug, 4, and Brent Lee Bospflug, 1 1/2. One woman, identified as Candy Bospflug, remained in critical condition at Marshall Hospital in Placerville.
