Rivers’ Shot at Buzzer Gives UC Davis Nonconference Victory Over Chapman
Angelo Rivers made a 20-foot jump shot at the buzzer Friday afternoon to give UC Davis a 66-65 nonconference basketball win over Chapman in Hutton Sports Center.
Chapman led, 65-64, with seven seconds left when Panther center Karl Tompkins was called for a five-second violation underneath the Davis basket. Rivers, who had 10 points, then made the winning basket.
Davis’ Dave Nobler led all scorers with 18 points and teammate Pete Buchwald added 16. Mike Kelly and Jon Samuelson scored 16 to lead Chapman, and John Bragg added 15.
The Aggies are 2-1, the Panthers 1-2.
Chapman plays host to Cal Lutheran in a nonconference game at 8 tonight.
