Moderate Quake in Hollister Area Does Little Damage
HOLLISTER, Calif. — A moderate earthquake rattled windows and shook a few people out of bed here Thanksgiving morning, but apparently caused no injuries or extensive damage, authorities said.
The earthquake struck at 7:13 a.m. and registered 4.5 on the Richter scale, according to the University of California, Berkeley, Seismographic Station.
A police spokesman said authorities did not receive many phone calls about the quake. “Only two residents called and no one reported any damages,†he said. “It was kind of a rumbling motion . . . then it just stopped.â€
The temblor was centered 25 miles southeast of Hollister, 110 miles southeast of San Francisco.
