Eating more calcium might help prevent colon cancer, one of the nation’s leading cancer killers, by neutralizing the hazards of a high-fat diet, a new study suggests. The researchers said their work is the first to show that calcium can reverse ominous changes in the lining of the colon that often foreshadow cancer, the New England Journal of Medicine reported. Researchers cautioned, however, that the findings are preliminary.
