Pasadena : Innocent Plea in 3 Slayings

Tony Kim, a 17-year-old former Temple City High School football player, has pleaded innocent in Pasadena Superior Court to charges he murdered a classmate and two members of the student’s family. A preliminary hearing to determine whether Kim will be tried has been set for Jan. 10.
Kim is accused of the Aug. 1 beating deaths of (Peter) Jae Whan Chung, 17, his brother, Jae Hung Chung, 14, and his grandmother, Boc Sil Kim, 58. The slayings occured in the victims’ home on Ardendale Avenue in an unincorporated area near Temple City.
Juvenile Court Judge Eric E. Younger ruled that Kim must be tried as an adult.
