4 Campgrounds, Picnic Area in Forest to Close
CORONA — Four Cleveland National Forest campgrounds and a picnic area will close Tuesday, said Ernest Martinsen, acting district ranger for the forest’s Trabuco District.
“Lack of maintenance dollars, low winter use and the need to let the facilities rest are the primary reasons for the closure,” Martinsen said. “It will also give us the opportunity to repaint and repair signs and correct vandalism damage.”
Bluejay, El Cariso North and El Cariso South campgrounds and the Lower San Juan Picnic Area will close for the winter, while Tenaja Campground will close indefinitely for construction, he said.
Other facilities in the Trabuco Ranger District, which straddles the Orange-Riverside county line from Corona to Camp Pendleton, will remain open for the winter.
