Edwards’ Gives UCI Win in Soccer

Don Edwards scored with four minutes remaining in the second overtime period Sunday to lead the UC Irvine soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Cal State San Bernardino in a nonconference match played on the Anteaters’ field at Irvine.

On an indirect free kick about eight yards in front of the Coyotes’ goal, John Gran tapped the ball to Edwards, who drilled it past San Bernardino’s eight-man wall and into the net. Irvine improved to 5-12-2 and will close the season against Chapman College Wednesday night at the Panthers’ field. The Coyotes dropped to 11-7-1.
