Shark Bite Victim Flown to Hospital
A man who had been bitten by a shark was flown from a sport fishing boat to a Torrance hospital by a Coast Guard helicopter Sunday.
Brad Koune, 24, of Redondo Beach, was reported in stable condition at Torrance Memorial Hospital with a bite on his right forearm.
A hospital spokeswoman said he would be released after doctors stitched up the wound.
Koune was aboard the 38-foot Seaspray in waters 5 miles south of Santa Barbara Island when he was bitten by the shark, apparently while trying to catch it, a Coast Guard spokesman said.
