An engineer testifying on the crash of a Delta Air Lines jetliner in Dallas Aug. 2 said that although the plane encountered violent wind shear weather conditions on its landing approach it still could have flown out of danger. Richard Bray, a National Aeronautics and Space Administration engineer, told a National Transportation Safety Board hearing that the plane “came very close” to avoiding the crash.
