PITTSBURGH — The elderly mother of University of Pittsburgh football Coach Foge Fazio required stitches for facial cuts and suffered bruises when attackers unsuccessfully tried to snatch her purse in downtown Pittsburgh.
Rosina Fazio, 77, of Coraopolis, Pa., required four stitches as a result of the last Saturday’s incident, which took place less than 90 minutes before her son’s team was to play Navy in Annapolis, Md.
Police said Mrs. Fazio resisted and held on to the purse when she was attacked. Police arrested three suspects within five minutes after the woman described her assailants and their getaway car.
