Cat Torturer Gets 4 Years

FRESNO — A Fresno woman convicted of felony charges of torturing a cat that was doused with lighter fluid and set on fire was sentenced today to four years and eight months in state prison.
Janet Jimenez was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Gene Gomes on a guilty plea. Sentencing of a codefendant, Robert Valdez, is scheduled Oct. 31. A witness, Betty Mitchell, testified that before the 14-week-old cat was set on fire July 12, Jimenez asked her “if I wanted to see a show.†She said Jimenez laughed as the cat burned.
