In an effort to stem indiscipline in the Uganda army, the ruling military council has set up a general court-martial to try government troops who break the armed forces code of conduct, Radio Uganda reports.

The broadcast Friday quoted Defense Minister Wilson Toko as saying that a subcommittee has also been established to review security and military indiscipline in the East African country.

The announcement came after weeks of almost daily reports of army brutality and widespread looting.
