Dec. 10 Set for Vote to Fill Snyder Seat
The Los Angeles City Council on Friday formally approved a Dec. 10 special election to fill the council seat vacated by longtime Eastside representative Arthur K. Snyder.
Snyder resigned last Friday.
The special election date was selected without discussion by the council and with no public comment. Opposition to the date was voiced a week ago, however, when the date was tentatively set.
Three announced candidates for the post--Gilbert Avila, Steve Rodriguez and Antonio Rodriguez--argued then that the short time before the election would favor well-financed Democratic Assemblyman Richard Alatorre of Los Angeles, whom Snyder has endorsed.
