Flood Kills 24 in Puerto Rico

PONCE, Puerto Rico — Heavy rains flooded a shantytown, washed out bridges and caused mud slides, killing 24 people and forcing thousands to evacuate their homes, authorities said today.
Civil Defense officials said 15 people were hospitalized with flood-related injuries, and at least 12 people were reported missing.
