Earl Jones Treated for Stomach Ailment
PALM DESERT — Laker center Earl Jones was hospitalized briefly Sunday morning after complaining of a stomach disorder, but was later released when test results were negative.
Jones, 6-feet 11-inches tall, is in his second season and is battling Chuck Nevitt for a place on the Laker roster. He was forced to leave practice because of stomach pains. Nevitt also missed most of the morning practice when he sprained his right ankle.
Forward Larry Spriggs, who agreed to the terms of a one-year contract late Saturday night, signed his contract 15 minutes before Sunday evening’s practice session and then joined his teammates at work.
