It was something you might expect to see in a Marx brothers movie.
A semi-trailer overturned on the Orangethorpe on-ramp to the southbound Orange Freeway on Friday afternoon, and a crane was brought in to lift it back onto its wheels.
As the trailer was slowly turned right side up, a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman said, its upright tractor was slowly turned onto its side.
“That added a few more hours to the SigAlert to get the truck back up,” she explained.
Altogether, the on-ramp in Placentia was closed for 4 1/2 hours after the trailer tipped over about 1:15 p.m. on a banked curve and spilled its load of four 90-foot-long tubular steel bridge sections down an embankment.
No one was injured and freeway traffic was not blocked, but rush-hour rubber-neckers slowed down anyway to look at the cleanup operation, police said.
The C&H; Transportation Co. truck was driven by Robert Hansen Jr., 42, of Roseville in Placer County.
