Furor Over Farrakhan
Earlier this year many Jews criticized President Reagan for his visit to Bitburg cemetery in Germany. Now some of them are criticizing Mayor Bradley for not lambasting Louis Farrakhan.
I think it is wrong for them to criticize others for not sharing their intense feelings toward him. If they wanted to criticize him for his views about the Bible and Jews they should do so and let it go at that.
Farrakhan is a leader of the black Muslims, not the entire black community. We blacks agree with some of the things he says, e.g., blacks should become producers and not just consumers of goods and services. No responsible black cares about his interpretation of the Bible or his views on Jews.
Furthermore, the outrageous behavior of the Jewish Defense League carrying around signs reading such nonsense as “Fairy Kan” and “Farrakhan is a punk” and “Tom Bradley is a wimp” makes martyrs out of these men and bullies out of the league.
In the end I think these Jews are guilty of the very thing they purport to fight, and their extreme behavior will backfire on them.
