Mission Viejo Man Ordered to Kansas
A federal judge in Kansas on Thursday ordered a Mission Viejo man, indicted on 63 mail fraud charges, to be returned to Kansas for a bond hearing scheduled for Sept. 23.
Gert Theron, 46, has been held without bail by federal authorities in Los Angeles since his arrest on Sept. 11. Theron allegedly organized a nationwide culture-growing investment program that attracted 27,000 investors in 30 states. The operation collected about $80 million before it collapsed last month, according to federal investigators.
Ten Californians, including four Orange County residents, were named in the indictment.
