BELLEVILLE, Canada — Samuel Calladine, 22, has fallen into the arms of the law.
Police in this Ontario town said Wednesday that Calladine was waiting to appear in court on an attempted car-theft charge when an elaborate getaway scheme literally fell through.
He climbed through a hole in the ceiling of a holding cell in the Belleville courthouse, where a vent cover had been pulled loose. Police pursued him through the crawl space, but before they could lay their hands on him, Calladine crashed down through the ceiling and into the unoccupied office of a justice of the peace.
For his efforts, Calladine now faces a charge of escaping custody.
