What an excellent article you wrote to mark the 50th anniversary of my father’s death in Alaska. It is the best article on him I have read in a long time.
You certainly researched (the material from Point Barrow is not generally known), and judging from the quotations and long list of interviews, you must have covered just about all the Will Rogers field. I have never read a newspaper article that dug into him so deeply.
Finally, I liked your evaluation of him and his place in America--realistic and not mushy.
