War Crimes Figure Target of 2nd Bomb Attack in a Month

BRENTWOOD, N.Y. — The second bombing in a month directed against persons accused of being war criminals started a fire Friday at the home of a former Latvian police officer who was cleared of charges that he helped Nazis murder Jews, authorities said.
Elmer Sprogis was home but was not injured, officials said.
Meanwhile, in Paterson, N.J., Tscherim Soobzokov died of injuries he suffered after his home was bombed Aug. 15. Soobzokov also had been cleared of charges that he was a Nazi war criminal.
No arrests have been made in either case.
