Woman Gets Three Years in Mexican Adoption Scam

SALT LAKE CITY — A 36-year-old woman was sentenced Tuesday to three years in prison for her part in a Mexican baby adoption scam that bilked couples in 40 states of about $750,000.
Deborah Rae Tanner of Willcox, Ariz., was found guilty June 28 of 17 federal counts of mail and wire fraud. She was sentenced to prison on one of the counts and received three years’ probation, to be served after the prison term, on the remaining charges.
