Craig Chambers of Lakewood has been honored by the cities of Lakewood and Long Beach, the county, and his employer, General Telephone, for heroism in assisting the Long Beach Police Department in the apprehension of a robbery suspect.
Chambers, a plant installer maintainer, was working in Long Beach in January when he saw a man with a gun jump from a taxi. Chambers pursued the man in his company vehicle and, when the police arrived, was able to show them the vicinity of the suspect’s hiding place.
Gordon G. Brown Jr. is the new president of the Family Service of Long Beach Board of Directors. Gordon, a Long Beach native, is a commercial products specialist for Domtar Gypsum American Inc.
Jackie Johnson of Downey will serve as president of the Whittier Women’s Chorus for 1985-86.
Charlotte Wardle has been named president of the Arts Colony of La Mirada.
