SMU, which has been cited by the NCAA for alleged recruiting violations, has banned approximately 12 boosters from athletic facilities and ordered them not to talk to athletes, the Dallas Morning News reported.
The newspaper said school president Donald L. Shields sent letters to about a dozen boosters, informing them that they could no longer enter Ownby Stadium and the Mustang’s weight room. The letter also banned boosters from talking to recruits and enrolled athletes.
The boosters who received the letters were the ones linked to infractions cited by the NCAA. The school will appeal the NCAA’s findings at a hearing in Boston today.
