Neighbors Gain From Block-by-Block Plans

In Sam Hall Kaplan’s article (July 28) “Hamilton Goes, 15 Fiefdoms Stay” were statements that could serve as criteria for the selection of a new planning director.
He made the point that planning needs to address the specifics at the block-by-block neighborhood level, and needs the involvement of those who will be affected. He further points out that the planners and the city officials who are involved in the planning process need to personally inspect the areas under consideration.
Kaplan should be commended for giving the city officials the message that “planning, if carried out on a human scale and with those affected in mind, can make a good city great.”
