Seal Beach : Command at Seal Beach Naval Station Changes
After declaring it “an honor and a privilege†to have served in the U.S. Navy, Capt. John Kinnier retired Monday and handed command of the Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station to Capt. Stanley Kozlowski.
The new commander was most recently director of the Strike and Surface-to-Surface Missile Systems Group in Washington, D.C., and before that held posts as coastal zone adviser in Vietnam and commanding officer of the ship John Paul Jones. Kozlowski, 48, who is married and has three daughters, began his naval career as an ensign in 1960 after earning a chemistry degree at Whitman College in Washington.
Kinnier, who took command at Seal Beach in 1982, and his wife will reside in the Baltimore, Md., area.
