Chicago the Hub

I have just read Horace Sutton’s Traveler’s Diary on Chicago (July 7). Twice, hoping to see some mention that the city is the hub of the U.S. rail passenger service, that Chicago can be reached from virtually every part of the country by modern and comfortable trains, that passengers changing from one to another may do so without leaving Union Station (not like in the old days), and that tours of the city are available from Amtrak for those persons who have a few hours to spare between trains.

Unfortunately, not one word was said about what remains as probably the most leisurely and gracious first-class land travel available, Amtrak.
