An antitrust suit against NME was dismissed.

National Medical Enterprises reported the dismissal of antitrust litigation filed in October, 1983, by the Justice Department that challenged NME’s acquisition of Modesto City Hospital in Modesto. In Fresno, Judge Robert E. Coyle dismissed the case “with prejudice” and awarded NME recovery of its costs of the trial. NME acquired the 121-bed Modesto City Hospital in December, 1982.
