San Diego
A gunman forced a salesclerk to disrobe Wednesday before he fled a Clairemont florist’s shop with $225 in cash, police said.
San Diego police spokesman Bill Robinson said the robbery “could be a start-up of a series” because of a similar attempted robbery the day before.
Shortly after 9 a.m. Wednesday, Robinson said, a muscular man walked into the Enchanted Florist at 5525 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. and showed the woman working there the butt of a gun under his T-shirt. He emptied $85 from the cash register and $140 from the woman’s wallet into a brown paper bag, then choked and punched the woman.
He then made her go into the bathroom at the back of the store and disrobe, passing her clothes out the door to him. He told her to count to 30 while he made his escape.
Robinson said a man who walked into a store at 4941 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. about 9:20 a.m. Tuesday also displayed a gun under his T-shirt but fled before taking any money.
