The big bats of the East will square off against the strong arms of the West at 1 p.m. on Sunday in the American Legion District 20 All-Star game at Cal State Northridge.
“The contrast in the two teams’ strengths is pretty unusual,” District 20 Commissioner Mel Swerdling said. “It’s going to be interesting to see how they handle each other.”
North Hollywood’s Merritt Robinson (.552) will lead an Eastern Division squad that features the six top hitters in the district, including Tarzana’s Keith Barton (.532) and Joe Palubeski of Burbank (.500).
The Western Division will counter the East’s potent offense with Granada Hills’ Chris Zavatatsky (3-1, 0.86), Reseda-Cleveland’s Dennis Moeller (5-1, 4.34) and Cort Wright of Woodland Hills West (4-3, 2.82).
