The Alaska Legislature will convene in a special session July 15 to consider impeaching Gov. Bill Sheffield for alleged abuse of power in negotiating a state office lease in Fairbanks, Senate President Don Bennett said. Bennett made the announcement after receiving word that more than the constitutionally required two-thirds of the 60 House and Senate members had voted in favor of a special session on the recommendation of a special grand jury that investigated the incident.
