A 32-year-old mother of five won a temporary restraining order to stop foreclosure on the Southwest Los Angeles home she says she bought in 1981, unaware that there were trust deeds and other legal claims on the property. In her Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit, Annie Hall said she entered a sales agreement with Los Angeles Homeowners Aid Inc. in which she was told the three-bedroom house on 2nd Avenue would be hers “and paid for†in 10 years after a down payment of $5,000 and monthly payments of $651, when in fact she would face a balloon payment in 1991 nearly equal to the $69,950 sales price. She received a foreclosure notice in March when she was late with a payment and again after having made the March and April payments plus late fees, court papers state. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge John L. Cole issued an order barring Burbank-based Homeowners Aid from selling the property or publishing any notice of default or collecting any unauthorized “late fees,†pending a hearing.
