Lendl Upset by Leconte
WIMBLEDON, England — Unseeded French left-hander Henri Leconte, No. 26 in the world, today produced the major upset of the Wimbledon tournament, eliminating second seed Ivan Lendl of Czechoslovakia 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-1 in the fourth round.
American qualifier Molly Van Nostrand created another surprise when she put out the women’s fourth seed, Manuela Maleeva of Bulgaria 7-5, 6-2.
