Ocean House, a 12-story retirement hotel on Ocean Street in Santa Monica, has been renovated at a cost of $1.5 million.
McDade & Shidler of Hollywood, which purchased the hotel in 1983, renovated the public spaces and all 210 units to maintain it as a home for senior citizens. The building has been vacant for two years.
Corporate Planning & Research, a Los Angeles architectural and interior design firm, designed new sun screens over each balcony and the main entrance; the building was completely cleaned and repainted, and an existing restaurant, kitchen and baths were brought up to code.
