Dirk Summers, a San Fernando Valley-based producer-director, has been convicted by a Las Vegas jury of practicing medicine without a license. Prosecutors said Summers gave two pills containing an unknown medication to the 14-year-old daughter of actor Richard Schaal after the girl came down with stomach flu last year at the Sands Hotel. At the time, Summers was producing a Jonathan Winters comedy show at the hotel. Schaal and his wife said the girl did not move for 24 hours after taking the pills. They testified that Summers carried a black bag and described himself as a medical doctor at parties they gave. Summers maintained that he had only given the girl a Sinutab and an Allerest tablet. Sentencing was set for July 25. Summers, whose real name is known to authorities as Ronald W. Kelly, is scheduled to go on trial in September on a charge of forging Liberace’s signature.
