KNBC-TV Programs Knocked Off Air by Power Problems
Viewers flooded the KNBC-TV switchboard Monday morning when the station went off the air after an underground power line on Mt. Wilson failed and then a backup generator at the station refused to work.
After a “run of bad luck” that interrupted its transmission three times, the station went back on the air at about 11:45 a.m., spokesman Bill Landers said.
Failure of Southern California Edison’s underground power line on Mt. Wilson also interrupted service to 14 other Edison customers, including television Channels 5, 7, 34 and 46, the utility reported.
