NAUMBURG AWARD TO MELIORA QUARTET

NEW YORK — The Meliora String Quartet, formed in 1982 by graduates of the Eastman School of Music, has won the 1985 Naumburg Chamber Music Award.
In 1984, the Meliora won both the Fischoff and Coleman National chamber music competitions. This season, the Meliora has been chosen to appear at the 1985 Festival of Two Worlds in Spoleto, Italy, as quartet-in-residence.
The quartet is composed of Ian Swensen and Calvin Wiersma, violins, Maria Lambros, viola, and Elizabeth Anderson, cello.
