Top-Ranked Lewis-Clark to Meet SCC
LEWISTON, Idaho — Brian Thomas and Lonnie Phillips stroked four hits apiece to lead a 20-hit attack as top-ranked and defending champion Lewis-Clark State College Warriors crushed fourth-ranked Georgia College, 17-1, Thursday in the NAIA baseball World Series.
Lewis-Clark (48-19) will face Southern California College this evening.
Lewis-Clark, the tournament host, rapped four home runs and four doubles. Thomas was 4 for 5 with four RBIs, including a two-run homer in the sixth. Phillips singled four times in five at-bats and drove in two runs.
Kyle Brock, younger brother of Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Greg Brock, went 3 for 4 with four RBIs, pounding a solo home run in the seven-run second and adding a two-run double later that inning.
