A Los Angeles Unified School District police officer has been ordered to stand trial on charges of attempting to rape a 16-year-old developmentally disabled student in a storage room at Wilson High School last February. Ruben Armando Gonzales, 36, was held to answer on two counts of sexual battery and attempted rape by Los Angeles Municipal Judge Candace D. Cooper after a preliminary hearing at which the student and her teacher both testified. Gonzales, free on $10,000 bail, continues to work for the school district, Deputy Dist. Atty. Lawrence Mason said.
