Many Americans who take the time to vote know more about Super Bowl lineups than the federal deficit and military spending, New York Gov. Mario M. Cuomo said in Rochester. Cuomo urged graduating students at the University of Rochester’s 135th commencement to become involved in the political process, saying that “a deplorable lack of interest†is partly to blame for the world’s problems. “From what I’ve seen, I believe that our democratic system rewards involvement and punishes aloofness,†he said.
