Orange County Duo Wins in Tennis

Bob Hochstadter of the Laguna Niguel Racquet Club and Dick Miller of Newport Beach defeated Dick Gude of Irvine and Tom Smith of Industry Hills, 6-2, 6-2, to win the men’s pro doubles title at the Cabrillo Racquet Club Pro Invitational on Sunday.

In the women’s pro doubles, Janice Metcalf of Claremont and Jill Beck of Irvine defeated Gretchen Miller of Newport Beach and Karen Rettenmaier of Tarzana, 6-0, 6-3. In the pro mixed doubles, Hochstadter and Beck beat Smith and Shannon Gordon of Tarzana, 1-6, 7-5, 7-6.

In the men’s pro-am, Steve Stefanki of Napa and Friday Delgado of Oxnard beat Tom Rettenmaier of Tarzana and Jim Gucciardo of Camarillo, 10-7. In the women’s pro-am Karen Rettenmaier and Virginia Junk of Oxnard defeated Beck and Layne Couco of Oxnard, 10-3.

In the women’s pro-am consolation, Krista Jensen of Camarillo and Peg Savage of Ventura defeated Miller and Bev Jones of Oxnard, 10-8. In the men’s pro-am consolation, Mark Elliott of Pleasanton and Rich Lyle of Camarillo defeated Kevin Gallup of Ventura and Bobby McDonald of Anaheim Hills, 10-7.
