Library Branch to Close and Remodel

The Crescenta Valley branch of the Glendale library system will close next Wednesday for about six months for remodeling and expansion, said Jack Ramsey, director of libraries.

The $1-million project will more than double the shelf and seating capacity of the library in the 2400 block of Honolulu Avenue. Work will include improving access to the building for the handicapped and installation of a new fire alarm and electronic book security systems.

A bookmobile will be in front of the building two days a week to serve patrons while the library is closed. The Crescenta Valley branch, built in 1961, is the busiest of the city’s five branch libraries.
