BRINKLEY AT ABC FOR 5 MORE YEARS
David Brinkley has signed a five-year contract with ABC News to continue anchoring his Sunday morning public affairs program.
In making the announcement, an ABC News spokeswoman reported that the 64-year-old Brinkley had said the pact would be the last one of his career.
Brinkley moved to ABC from NBC in September, 1981, and two months later began hosting “This Week With David Brinkley,†a weekly public affairs series. The former evening news anchorman also played a prominent role in ABC’s coverage of the presidential campaign last year, and the network spokeswoman said discussions are under way regarding other assignments for him during the next five years.
