The municipal golf course, which is running an annual deficit of $95,000, will raise fees May 6 for the first time in three years. The new fee schedule, approved by the City Council, increases the cost of playing 18 holes from $8.50 to $9.50 on weekends and holidays and from $6.50 to $7 on weekdays. At the same time, the council approved an agreement with Los Verdes Golf Course Maintenance to maintain the course for $22,000 a month. City Manager Kevin Murphy said patronage at the course is increasing and the city expects construction of a new clubhouse this year to attract more golfers and make the course profitable.
