Woman Injured in Garden Grove Fire
A fire burned a garage and part of a home in Garden Grove early Thursday, causing an estimated $75,000 damage and minor injuries to one person, authorities said. The cause of the fire had not been determined by late Thursday.
Kristin George, 18, discovered the fire when she arrived home about 2 a.m., said Betty Burger, a spokeswoman for the Garden Grove Fire Department. She said George sprained her left ankle when she jumped over a block wall while running from the flames.
The fire spread from the garage to an adjoining exercise room of the Aldgate Avenue residence before 15 firefighters arrived and put the blaze out.
Burger said Renee Vicary, the 23-year-old owner of the home, was asleep in the living room when the fire broke out but was not harmed.
