Brea CRA Participates in Planned 200-Room Hotel
A lease agreement for construction of a first-class hotel adjacent to the Brea Civic Cultural Center and the Brea Mall has been approved by the Brea City Council, acting as a redevelopment agency.
The 10-story, 200-room hotel, a $28 million project, will be a Holiday Inn, built to the standards of the chain’s Crowne Plaza Hotel series. It will have 7,000 square feet of meeting space, a restaurant, lobby and entertainment club. Extensive telecommunications facilities are planned.
Since the two-acre site is much smaller than that usually required for such a hotel, a 300-space parking structure will be built under the hotel with elevator access to the lobby. Herbert Nadel & Partners of Santa Monica is the architect.
The redevelopment agency is an investor through paying for site preparation and the parking structure, about half the project cost. The Brea Foundation, owner of the site, will support the city’s cultural and leisure services with a large share of the income it receives.
A partnership, Brea Inn Associates, has been created for the project, consisting of Vista-Host of Houston, which will manage the new hotel once it is built, and Stan Gribble & Associates of Newport Beach.
