Transamerica Airlines President Howard K. Howard is taking on the additional title of chief executive as part of the Oakland-based charter carrier’s management succession plan.
Howard, 57, succeeds Henry P. Huff, 65, who will remain as chairman until his planned retirement in July.
Howard, who was president of Saturn Airways when it merged with Transamerica Airlines in 1976, became president in 1983 at the same time that Huff was elevated to chairman.
Huff joined Transamerica Airlines in 1964 and served as president from 1969 to 1983.
Transamerica Airlines is a unit of San Francisco-based Transamerica Corp.
