Pasadena State Policeman Shot

SACRAMENTO — An off-duty state police officer from Pasadena was critically wounded early today in a shootout with two men who also were wounded, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department reported.
Officer William Pattison, 25, was reported in critical condition at University Medical Center with a shotgun wound to the chest. A suspect, James Emslander, 25, of Rancho Cordova was in serious condition with a bullet wound in the chest. The second suspect, David Peterson, 26, also of Rancho Cordova, was in critical condition with several chest wounds, a hospital spokeswoman said.
